Piece the Wild: Rivers & Streams Pattern
Approx. 19.5" x 43.5" Finished Size |
Living on the Kenai River means summer revolves around the salmon runs. Four salmon species travel up the Kenai each summer, the most famous being the King (Chinook). The Kenai River actually holds the world record King weighing in at 97 lbs 4 oz. Most popular among locals are the Reds, also known as Sockeye, and Silvers (Coho). Every even year we also get overrun by Pinks (also known as Humpys) which are fun to catch, but not so good to eat. I'm partial to the Reds, and vacuum seal up a bunch of fillets for the freezer each summer, and smoke up a few smokers full each year to share with friends and family. Piece the Wild: Rivers & Streams uses batiks from my 2021 Return to the Wild Signature Batik Collection with Hoffman California Fabrics. This pattern can be made as an individual pattern as shown above, or combined with the other three Piece the Wild patterns to make a larger combination quilt as shown below. See all my Return to the Wild batiks here. The pattern includes a set of laser cut salmon applique shapes backed with Lite Steam-a-Seam 2. |
