Piece the Wild: In the Evergreens Pattern
Approx. 19.5" x 43.5" Finished Size |
Black Bear are the most abundant bear species in Alaska, with an estimated 100,000 living in my State. Although a bear sighting is a fairly rare sight in town, I've seen a few closer than I'd like, and even had one try to get into my house to get my cat once. Another time I saw a black bear cross the road about a 1/4 mile ahead of me while I was walking home from my parent's house with my daughter in her stroller. The scariest part was I had to walk toward it to get home! I have often seen them in the Kenai Mountains looking for a quick salmon dinner in the summer months, and it's always exciting to see a bear - but preferably from the safety of my house or car. Piece the Wild: In the Evergreens uses batiks from my 2021 Return to the Wild Signature Batik Collection with Hoffman California Fabrics. This pattern can be made as an individual pattern as shown above, or combined with the other three Piece the Wild patterns to make a larger combination quilt as shown below. The pattern includes a set of the laser cut black bear appliques backed with Lite Steam-a-Seam 2. See all my Return to the Wild batiks here. |
